Casa Soarelui is located in Constanta, Romania and was opened in May 2002 as a centre for palliative, respite amd
terminal care for the children of the area, who were suffering from HIV / AIDS from the policy of the
Ceausescu regime. Over time, children from all over Romania came to visit.
As time has moved on, many of these children have become young adults and the need for respite care reduced.
However, Romania has a high level of cancer sufferers, both young and old. In 2007, Casa Soarelui reopened as a
hospice for cancer sufferers. Since that time, we have averaged 14 guests per night, but unfortunately we have lost 2
patients per week.
The staff have been trained in palliative care and provide loving and dignified care for those with a terminal illness
so as to create a loving caring and restful environmment for those patients in their final days.
We support two BA pilots who take baby and childrens clothes to Entebbe and Brazil and girls clothes to Nairobi to help
the poor. We also supply men's clothing to Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Kentish Town for the homeless and
books and equipment for St. Philip Howard School in Hatfield.
